I like NIN, but yeah, they're industrial for people who think that adding rock elements to what they think of as techno = industrial.

Hell if I know how anyone sees Stabbing Westward as Industrial anything. I think at some point people starting thinking Industrial Metal/Rock=Electronic Metal/Rock which is sorta true to an extent. Ministry doesn't even have that much industrial elements in their sound either. I just hear drum machines and distorted synths.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

Well it's kind of hard to define industrial, as it's such an experimental genre that by the time the term industrial even came along all the industrial bands had moved on, and never really sounded like each other to begin with.

Fixed, and HNFY!

I know rec's aren't open yet but when they are I'd like this to be added to the list. TY Troll, and happy new year.

Industrial music is a genre of experimental/electronic music that draws on transgressive and provocative themes.

Industrial rock is a musical genre that fuses industrial music and specific rock subgenres.

Artists such as Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson propelled the genre to mainstream status.

-Wikipedia

Industrial as we know it is pretty much just synthpop except a bit more experimental.

Nine Inch Nails released platinum-selling albums in the 1990s.

Perhaps instead of saying NONDUSTRIAL HAHA LOL, you could call NIN Post-industrial:

Post-industrial music is a collection of related music genres that emerged in the early 1980s, all of which blended elements of varying styles with the then new genre of industrial music. (This includes Industrial Rock, which Nine Inch Nails are known for.

Didn't someone already rec this as a joke? Anyway like I always say, when recs are closed I will ignore any given, so sorry man but you're just gonna have to remind me when they're open again. I'm not putting anything on a to-be-recced-later list. Way too busy for that.

Also, can you guys please table your is-this-industrial-or-is-it-not discussion, or take it elsewhere? It's in danger now of derailing my thread. Thanks and HNY.
