SUGGEST ME AN ALBUM - I'm probably not going to listen to it but I will if you bother me enough.

Maybe I could find something you haven't heard before.

Don't be a bitch, TH. It's just one album.

Sorry man, recs are closed. They were open for a month. I know you weren't here but if I start reopening them every time someone new and cool arrives, I'll be all over the place. Anyway I have tons to do, and getting through them is a job in itself.

There will be no exceptions, so please don't ask.
As a compromise, you can rec me something and I'll review it in my "Bitesize" journal, if that's ok. Or there are two other things I can do: I can review your rec(s) in your thread, or in YorkeDaddy's "Review in the style of TH" one.

Also, Batty stop Manowarising my thread. Put your toys away when you're finished with them, or you won't be allowed to play with them any more.

I too considered this, though I know that saying you have a boyfriend does not mean what it used to when I were a lad. So I waited to see if there were any other subtler hints I could pick up on, such as anything about makeup, skirts or high heels (though again, even that is in no way conclusive). Not that it matters what gender Horror is, but sometimes ladies get pissed off when we just assume they're guys, so I wanted to see if there was any indication of which he was. Saying "I'm a guy" is a pretty big clue, I'll admit....

Batty and I are guys, just in case you wondered, and there's a helpful thread in the Lounge I think that lists who is who, to a degree.

Title: That's All
Artiste: Bobby Darin
Genre: Crooncore
Familiarity: I've heard of him, sure, but never anything by him to my knowledge

1. Mack the knife: Oh well shut my mouth! Of course I've heard this, and who doesn't love it?
2. Beyond the sea: Oh and I know this of course. Pretty cool song.
3. Through a long and sleepless night: This is never the same song The Divine Comedy have on their Casanova album, is it? Of course not. Nice romantic tune though; orchestra is in great form.
4. Softly as in a morning sunrise: Yeah, it's okay. Very swing/big band, not my sort of thing at all, but good for what it is.
5. She needs me: This is softer, much nicer, a bit more palatable to me.
6. It ain't necessarily so: I know this one of course. Nice slow swing version. Trumpet is cool.
7. I'll remember April: Kind of a Sinatra vibe to this. Meh.
8. That's the way love is: Oh God! The big booming opening and flute just turns me off right away. Ugh!
9. Was there a call for me: This is very maudlin, and again that flute does not help. Pass.
10. Some of these days: This has a kind of strut to it. Don't like it though.
11. Where is the one: This one's quite nice. Reminds me of NKC. Lovely piano and possibly harp?
12. That's all: What's this? A Christmas song? Oh god no: this is bloody awful!

End result: Absolutely not my kind of music, and while I did enjoy one or two tracks it's generally not the kind of thing I would listen to for pleasure. This whole era of music leaves me cold, and this album has done little to change that.

So, Love or Hate? I can't say I hate it, but it's getting a pretty solid Meh.

Once you review that Bathory album I'll be rec'ing you some Manowar. They're like ICP in that they're an embarrassment to the fans of their respective genres, but Manowar actually had a period where they were a genuinely creative band who had a sound that was original and not just a self-parody (though at no point in their career were they not cheesier than Gouda).

Think of them like a lowest-common denominator version of Judas Priest. And just like ICP many of their fans are morons who don't get how goofy they are (and it's questionable just how much the band itself understands this), but they also have a fanbase who understands this, but love them because of how hilariously ****ty they are (they're quite possibly my favorite band of all time).

In the meantime enjoy one of my favorite metal songs of all-time...

And also one of the greatest band photos ever. Only the 80s...

Lmao that looks like gay caveman porn. BUT, for the time period I get it.

I like them, Manowar it's like there's a layer of cheese on top of a really good dish but, the cheese is low quality and if you just dig in it's good eats.

Does that make sense?

Cool, and I decided not to paste that long paragraph it's really long. Basically I personally think it doesn't matter but, I guess it paints a more clear picture of someone if you know their gender, age, etc. Anyway, have fun doing recs!

Luckily for me, I have no life. I don't have a job to go to (I look after my sister from home, that's my fulltime occupation) so I tend to have more free time (theoretically) on my times than I would otherwise. I maintain about twelve (at last count) journals in the journals section as well, so you can see how busy it can get for me. I am enjoying this thread though, more than nearly anything I've done since joining here nearly five years ago now.
