Hey TH, just curious. Have you checked out any other records from the artists you've loved so far?

I actually have not had time. Believe it or not, between trying to get at least one rec done per day, plus (as you know) writing up the latest instalment of "I know what I like", to say nothing of my other journals and keeping tabs on various other threads, there aren't enough hours in the day.

I do want to listen to "The War of the Worlds" though, to remind myself what TLP is going to hear when he plays it, assuming he hasn't heard it before. It's quite an experience. You ever heard it?

I'm not trying to pressure you like with Office Space, but I'm just saying that Radiohead is a good enough band that exploring their discography really is worth your time, so you might want to make an exception specifically in their case. If you loved In Rainbows, then I can almost guarantee you that you're a Radiohead fan who just doesn't know it yet.

Feel free to disregard this advice, but if so, then I still think it would behoove you to check out their other stuff on your own time (maybe in your main journal or something). Even someone who's as lazy about indie rock stuff as me loves Radiohead, although I haven't given it as much time as I really should. Same way I feel about Flaming Lips.

Track 1(Love) Good sort of bluegrass/rockabilly hybrid that rockets along with a lot of fun if not subtlety
Track 2It went by too fast and was too short for me to even remember what it was like.
Track 3(Love) Just a minute! This is ripping off the traditional song “Do-re-mi”! Good enough but a little disappointing that he doesn't admit it's a cover, at least partially.
Track 4(Love) Kind of a dark humour to this
Track 5(Love) Some of these tracks are almost too short to make a decision on before they're over!
Track 6 Yeah, again it's okay but so short it's hard to even take it in.
Track 7 Too short again.
Track 8(Love)Like the fact that this is almost all played on glockenspiel for about a minute, then some fairly sweet trumpet I think.
Track 9(Love) Like the melody and the idea behind this. The pastiche of “Mrs Robinson” is inspired! Paul Simon would not be impressed.
Track 10(Love) Yeah, this one is not bad.
Track 11(Love) Good closer, like it.

End result: It's fun, yeah, but a little bewildering the speed it runs at, and it's hard to take it all in in one sitting. I'm pretty sure I'd get into this, but it might take a few listens and a few more albums. Enjoyable, certainly.

So, Love or Hate? I'd put this down as a Love.

That question was addressed to Frownland; I know you haven't heard it, otherwise you would not have accepted it as a rec. When you get to it I hope you enjoy it. It's quite long, but in my opinion a real experience and definitely worth it. (Note: if you hate science-fiction you may not enjoy it, but who doesn't love that story?)
