You seem like a fine, friendly dude but a "top 1000 bands" with a weekly band of the week where you expect people to listen to entire discographies is all just silly, basically I and the rest of us probably think you should just tone it back and ease yourself into the forum by commenting in existing threads rather than trying out these ridiculous projects a week within registering.
It's kind of this yes. Even posting a list of 1000 bands, line by line, made this thread an annoyance to get into until page 2 arrived, as you had to page down or ctrl end unless you wanted to scroll, scroll, scroll ... a thousand lines is a long way to scroll. It just annoys people having to do this every time.

It's a little ambitious, but if you want to do it, I would suggest checking out our Journals Section, as something like this would be better suited to that section. I am already well into the history of progressive rock, 1001 albums you should hear before you die and various discographies in my journals, so if you posted there you might not get as much negative feedback, plus if you actually start writing about the artistes more people may be interested.

I still seriously doubt though that anyone is going to listen to a full discog a week, as you seem to want people to. Most may listen to what you have to say when you do it (if you do it) but I can't see a huge number of people (or anyone really) jumping on board. It's hard enough to get people to listen to one album a week, never mind a whole discography.

But yeah: as YD says, join in the discussions (I see you have already, but maybe outside of the GnR idea) and get to know us. We may not seem such *******s then. Or we may. Who knows. But at least you'll get to interact with us a little more.

Also, again, for the love of god, spoilers on that OP? Now that we're on page two it's not so bad but really, it's a pain going past all those albums. A simple spoiler tag would sort it.

I agree the spoilers tag is an excellent idea. I just have no clue how to do it.

I thought I posted on a few other threads that were non-GNR related. Funny thing, is GNR might barely be in my top 10 favorite bands, and more likely top 25, but that is just what was on my mind at the time, and I thought it was a safe band to discuss when joining a music forum. LOL

I had some friends who already joined me in my artist of the week, but they chose to post only on my new blog rather than here because of all of the negativity here. A friend of mine actually suggested I create a blog for that reason. I will continue to do the blog as well as here.

Even if no one here joins me in the artist of the week, I am still going to do it. A few times now over the past few years I tried doing an artist of the day, but even I cannot be THAT ambitious. HAHA

I will check out the journals when I find some time. I appreciate the suggestion.

I guess if anything, for maybe take it easy on the newbies here (not just you but others here as well). I would think you would want people to be happy to join this forum, not make comments to push them away. If someone knows me and gives me crap, I will just give it right back. But we don't even know each other. Maybe some of you don't care though. I guess I don't know when the intention of some responses were.

For some of you, you have given helpful comments and feedback and have been welcoming, and I appreciate that.

One more comment about the top 1000 bands; it is not about me. While it is part of a personal project, posting here was far more about initiating discussion about different bands. It would have been cool to hear some say, "wow, I have not thought about Mr. Bungle for many years" or "I never heard of Rhinobucket before I saw this list and they sound just like Bon Scott era AC/DC", or "WTF is Tiffany doing on your list" or "I forgot that Todd Snider even existed" or maybe even "Rise Against is one of the most underrated bands out there and I am glad they are on your list".

Anyways, there are no more projects I have. I will post my artist of the week every Sunday. I will respond to comments on my current threads, I may contribute to other threads and occasionally add another thread of my own.
It is just unfortunate that when I found this forum with my projects and love for music in mind, I was thrilled and happy and now I just dread seeing an email in my gmail account stating I have another reply, because it will likely be something negative. I definitely did not come here for that.

As far as my maturity, I guess I can refer you to any of my ex's for confirmation on how immature I am. HAHA In all serious though, I worked at a teacher for teens who were in gangs in the Twin Cities area. Many of them have been involved in shootings and crazy stuff. I moved from Minnesota to Maui because I hate snow and cold and unfortunately I found that I make more money as a server than as a teacher. For the time being, I chose the money route, but obviously there is a void in my life when my way of helping people in life is helping them enjoy their dream vacation, and not in trying to save the lives of teens.

So whatever, I am ambitious, long-winded, and get somewhat defensive when strangers diss what I do. Hopefully some people read past all of this stuff and actually comment on some specific bands on my list or missing from my list. :-)
