Websites to Rate Music and Receive Recommendations?
 

Hopefully this thread does not turn into a spamming thread. However, I am looking for a website where I can rate songs/albums/bands and the website will, in turn, recommend new music for me to check out based on my results. For movies, Criticker works great for this, and Netflix did when I used it.

There must be a few music websites for this? Which ones are the best? Any that you guys use actively to supplement this website?

Thank you! Rateyourmusic is the first one I was looking at. Do most people rate just the albums, or each song as well? I am finding it far more difficult to rate individual songs than movies.

Well, I tried rating albums and I over analyze it. It is so subjective. I tried to create criteria for each rating but there are so many factors. An album can have a lot of great songs, or a couple amazing songs and have the same rating. Perhaps the most fair and consistent manner to rate an album is to rate each individual song and then base the album rating on average of the songs. This process will be hugely time consuming so I am going to have to pass. I know I tend to sometimes make things more difficult than need be.

However, perhaps there is a website where you can "like" all of the bands/artists you want, and the website will provide suggestions of others to check out based on the artists/bands you are interested in?

I do know there are many websites where you click on an artist you like and then there will be a list of bands a person may like if they like that band. I guess I am looking for a website more geared for lazy people where it just provides a list based on everyone I have liked.
