^ Thanks for reminding me.
I was planning on sending her a birthday card but it completely slipped my mind. Hopefully, belated birthday wishes via the internet will suffice. |

Maybe the most recorded bass player in modern music history? Really weird seeing her with that Ibby shred axe.

I was really hoping to see the Barney Miller theme song in there, but after some searching I found it was Chuck Berghofer who performed that one. Who ever he is. Thanks internet. I could have gone my entire life without knowing any of this.

Carol Kaye is basically a musical legend, and i'm glad to see that she's still around. Happy birthday!

A real musician's musician and studio legend. It's hard to choose from her 10,000 or so recorded works, but maybe I love her treacly tone on "Wichita Lineman" the most.
I recall Carol Kaye describing her bass sound as a hard sound, a "hungry" sound, because that's how she made money to feed her three children. Happy Birthday, Carol! |

Back in the 70s I'd see her name on records and just assume it was a guy - we had a "Carol" O'Connor as Archie Bunker back then so it seemed like a reasonable assumption. Was kinda blown away when I found out the truth.
