Cool Things You Didn't Hear on the First Listen
Most of us are fans of grower albums, where you don't necessarily like or consider an album a classic on your first listen but that opinion becomes more positive over time. Post your findings in this thread.
Aside from obvious mentions (see username), one thing I recently noticed is This Heat's 'Not Waving''s having a clarinet. I heard it on the main theme, but I never noticed it in the ambient intro. It's pretty cool because I play clarinet pretty similarly, this song had more of an effect on me than I initially thought.

It took me a long time to really get why Pork Soda is such a great album. All those rythmic things interchanging in all three instruments I didn't get it at first. The more I listened to it the more the sounds and effects popped in my ear and I saw how skilled of a band they really were, it why Pork Soda still holds up as my favorite of theirs to this day.

Getting Better (The Beatles)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jk0dBZ1meio In the background of the chorus, after Paul says "It's Getting Better," someone says "Can't get no worse." Kind of a cool detail. ---------- I'ts The End Of The World (And I Feel Fine) (R.E.M.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0GFRcFm-aY This one is like The Beatles one above. In the chorus it goes, "It's the end of the world as we know it." One of the other band members says "Time I get some time alone." ---------- All Day And All Of The Night/Destroyer (The Kinks) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yQRiEtxA5A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSKKvnA47aU The same chords for both verses. I never really thought about it. --------- Jerry Was A Race Car Driver (Primus) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBQ2305fLeA The song takes a break, only to hear "Dog Will Hunt." From what I have heard, it seems to be from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. ---------- That is all I can think of for now...

STP trippin on a hole on a paper heart.
i used to hate the guitars and vocals in that song when it came out but now i think the guitars are great Venus as boy from Bjork. Another song i initially didn't like idk why then one day i started liking it outta the blue. In terms of hidden audio stuff, there is a song by a band called Zoe "No me destruyas mas" After listening ALOT to this song i started to notice 2 things: 1. The lyrics are more dark than they initially let on to be. in one part he says "Giant pills in secret chambers with obscene lights, get me out of here" yet the song is so peppy you don't pay attention to the horrible lyrics. 2. you can faintly hear a 2nd band member repeat the chorus "Ya no me destruyas mas" in the background.

I've obviously heard this before, but am only now taking note. At around two and a half minutes in this song there comes a really nice keyboard part in the background. This is generally very bleak and soul ripping, but when that comes in it sheds new light on the song, almost hopeful sounding. I love this even more now

So, I never realized on first listen that when the drums start the new rhythm at 1:40, that rhythm stays throughout the entire mellow section from 1:40 - 3:33. I know that it's such an obvious thing and that everybody notices it on first listen, but I never really did because I was struck in awe with how beautiful the whole part sounded that I completely forget to really listen in and see if the drums were still going. I also find it neat that the drummer also adds some extra cymbals etc through the entire section, making it sound very technical in it's own right. Just makes this track even more killer than it was to begin with. |

So, the "Come on" part in this song I didn't know were robots, but apparently they are! How crazy's that? Noticed it not the first time, but definitely the third time.
