I'm new to the forums, but I want to play. I'll pick 1983 if available.

I was relying on chart information for the songs of the year I'd chosen, now have to review my list and check to see which songs were release in that chosen year.

Two of each have to be new. In finals, you'll have a team of ten albums and eight singles, and none of them have to be new.

PM me your teams for the first round within the next two days, I'll get them posted along with posting polls.
When you say "single" do you mean the song has to be officially released on a format as a single e.g. on CD (but not a full album), 45/ 7" vinyl, (promo) music video, or mp3 (digital download)? Single - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Or does your use of "single" in the above rules mean "any one song" not necessarily one that was release as a single?

What is not being overlapped? The song choice and album it appears on?

Yes, but remember that you need twelve different albums for the group stage, and at least 18 for the whole tournament. So save your best albums because there are limits on how much you can reuse them.

You're in group A. You have a bye right now.

The idea was for it to be an actual single but if people want to play where they just pick a song, I can change it to that.

I went over this with Frownland - it means you can't reuse any albums in the group stage.

This sounds kind of complicated. The singles can just be any song from your year? What happens after we make the lists, does everyone vote on them?

I don't think I have even ten albums from the year I chose that I like. I'm screwed. I thought we were only choosing like one or two albums. 18 albums seems ridiculous.

you really thought you were going to argue about a year being the "best year for music" by presenting one or two albums?

so not only did you not read the rules but you didn't even think through what the contest was actually about?

And it's a chance to look through said year and find new stuff. I know that's what I will be doing.

well i was kinda trying to be, you made a stupid post that warranted such a response, should i have been like "wow i can totally see why you thought you would've only needed to submit two albums to argue that a year is the best year for music ever, that makes a lot of sense"??
