Family of the Year - "Hero"
I heard this song for the first time yesterday and love it. Joseph Keefe's voice is like melting rice cream. The acoustic guitar resonates and jingles beautifully. The song arrangement is subtle and delicate, evolving slowly throughout the song to include more and more parts, such as electric guitar and additional vocals, and warm, low tones. I like the wistful, somewhat sad emotion the song inspires. I'm enjoying listening again and again to this soothing song with its lovely melody:

Wow, this is a really nice little bit here
Also, We Care A Lot is a great album, **** the haters. Very excited to hear them "return to their roots" (as they say) with Patton's vocals and songwriting. Why is it rated so low anyway? It's a perfectly rocking and funky album. Can people really not handle some less than stellar vocals?

Enon are so cool.
For me it's these two right now. First, I love Calexico and I love several albums of theirs, but this is the song that's sticking with me right now: possibly the best Dylan cover ever (definitely the best not by the Byrds or the Band). They also do a great version of "Alone Again Or". Next, this whole album is pretty good, but it peaks with the first song. Don't you hate it when that happens? |
