The forum has it's fair share of metal elitists and people who hate The Doors, but it can be alright and helpful. I still post there to this day, albeit with a different account than six years ago. A lot of others there are seasoned veterans.
There is only one member I know who hates The Doors, and that person was banned from MusicBanter. Hopefully it's safe for Doors fans on MB now.

I would really like to find YouTube channels that promote a large variety of new rock acts, particularly hard rock and metal. Any recommendations?

2) Pandora
3) YouTube via related videos.
4) Other people (rarely)

It's ok though. Go ahead and talk amongst yourselves. I'll just sit here in the corner stemming and mumbling. I'm just so sick and tired of classic rock it hurts. My hair even hurts.

As far as where I find new music... all over the place. Usually from places I'd least expect. I've been getting into some of the self released stuff on Reverbnation lately.

1. RYM - Either looking through lists, or talking to people on there.
2. Musicbanter - As above.
3. Youtube - Reviews, record collectors etc.
4. Bandcamp - Searching tags etc.
5. Plug
6. last.fm - Looking through other people's listening history.

Pretty much it really, anything else is chance.

Plug more than anything because I'm forced to listen to things I might not have remembered to YouTube otherwise.
There's no regularly active punk plug.dj everytime I look, at least in my timezone :c.

You know, it's easy to find music I like, but it's so difficult to find music I love.
It always happens really unexpected. Sometimes when listening to something over time, sometimes in an instant the first time I listen to it.
