Default Why are there so many love songs?

And why are most of them also poorly written(lyrics wise)? I mean like a girlfriend boyfriend relationship, not love between friends and family(that's fine), but love about their preffered sex. It's either love or sex. Why are there so god damn many? Seriously, I'm sick of them, it annoys me everytime I hear one.

It's a cliche riddled emotion.

Love isn't cliche, nor is it necessarily an emotion.

The lyrics written about it are cliched.

"One love feeds the fire
One heart burns desire
Wonder who's cryin' now
Two hearts born to run
Who'll be the lonely one
Wonder who's cryin' now"

I think the OP is talking more about infatuation or lust, not love.

Everything has exceptions. I've heard a few good ones. I'm talking about both, but I do mean only romnatic relationships and sex.

Family and friends is fine.

Well, take anything -- say, books. There are so many books out there; chances are most of them are crap. There are so many songs out there -- chances are most of them are crap. Romantic love and sex are common themes throughout humanity -- otherwise it'd be the end of the human race! Love songs are just another thing people create, and most people suck at creating things. End result: many crappy love songs.

Yet they tens to get the most popular somehow

What I find funny is how when I say I'd love to have my first girlfriend sometime since I haven't had one yet, people act like i'm weird because i'm "still young" (18 now but this has been so for a while). yet a lot of pop culture seems to act asif love is as important as the second coming of christ. It's everywhere, and usually portrayed extremely unrealistic. Like geez, there's more to life. Be a bit more original. Write about taking a sh*t for all I care, at least it's not the 9998075367th love song.
