There are exceptions, but a love story (at least, a bad one) is easy to write. It's been done, there's a blueprint that's easy to follow, and you are pretty much guaranteed to sell stuff.
What annoys me is when they try to shove a romantic relationship in a movie that totallly didn't need it. They force two characters without any chemistry whatsoever into a relationship, and it's always very poorly done and unrealistic. It's like they think every movie HAS to have romance. If you're going to do it when it's totally unnecessary, at least do it well.
