For myself, "Hate" is too strong of a word - my posts may come off like that because we are having a messageboard discussion. It is also the reason why I edit- and re-edit my posts to "tone down" phrases and add smileys and such

...but it is a fun subject and somewhat of a pet peeve.

Sounds like I need to try some Paisley Underground. Didn't even know it existed.

I don't think so .
......Which brings me back to the point: Do we really need a Grind Metal sub category? Is "Grind Metal" SO different that it earns its own unique label?
well "classical" and "baroque" are pretty different, but maybe by your logic they should be lumped together?

because math rock isn't "extreme".

what does rock n roll mean

Baroque is a subset-form of the larger umbrella term Classical Music (a.k.a. "Western Art Music").....NOT Classical-era, the terms Classical Music and Classical-era both share the same term "Classical" but Classical Music and Classical Period/Era are TWO mutually exclusive terms...the Baroque era is the pre-cursor to the Classical Period ---- but Baroque Music IS Classical Music. See the difference? So, yes, Baroque Music and Classical Music ARE the same

Wiki (see first line of 2nd Paragraph):

Baroque music - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
fair enough. im no expert on classical music. ive always thought it was baroque style and classical style and separated them. if theyre the same umbrella, so be it.

my point is every genre sounds stupid and pointless if you've never heard of it before.

For the record though, math rock isn't really related to prog. Different lineage.

True. All the more reason to give it recognizable titles
