Default Is it just me, or has 2014 really been lacking in good music?

Last year, The National, Arcade Fire, Daft Punk, Kanye West, Chance the Rapper, Arctic Monkeys, Deafheaven, Vampire Weekend, and Chvrches all came out with incredible albums. To me, the best albums of 2014 are Salad Days - Mac Demarco, Here and Nowhere Else - Cloud Nothings, Rips - Ex Hex, and Benjamin Booker - Benjamin Booker, but none of these come anywhere close to the albums of 2013.

Is it just my music taste, or is there better stuff that I just haven't discovered yet? Or is 2014 just kind of a suckish year for music?

I think it's been a great year for music. John Zorn, White Suns, Marc Ribot, Swans, B L A C K I E, Run the Jewels, and many other artists released great records this year.

There's been some seriously great stuff for me. Of course it depends on what you're into.

Swans, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Primus made their best album since Pork Soda in my opinion, Sun Kil Moon, Weezer made their best album since Pinkerton, Run The Jewels, Madlib and Freddie Gibbs, Cloud Nothings, Julia Brown, and Clipping made CLPPNG.

You've gotta be kidding me. Another thread to discuss supposedly ****ty music?

As far as I can tell, this year and last year even have been amazing years for music.

People don't take the time to dig... it really isn't hard.

These last two years have been very good to me, music wise. A lot of my favorite artists have released new stuff, as well as I have discovered artists that have released their debuts. You're right though. Digging is one of the best things to do when it comes to music.

I think this has been the most potent year for music since 2010. Seriously good stuff.
