You know that I listen to popular music and I dont have a problem with it. I just think the current pop scene is bad. So not sure where this post is coming from...
Well we could take that as an opportunity to show him some lesser known stuff. But what do you like from this year? Serious question.

I'm still too busy listening to older music that I like to really listen to many new bands.

The complaint in the first post was that in in the previous year well-known bands/artists had good material, and in his opinion that did not happen in 2014 with the other bands/artists he mentioned.
I see nothing obscure about Arcade Fire, Daft Punk, Kanye West, Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend, and Chvrches. Some of them might not be household names but they are more well known than the other names mentioned in this thread. They might not pass your benchmark of "mainstream," but calling someone out for being "kewl and nonconformist" is an Aunt Sally argument. And a bit ironic cause you do like underground and nonconformist stuff.

I don't do the same about music I have no interest in either, I'm not posting in sub-forms breaking peoples' balls for liking stuff I don't like. I think it is more common to do that with music that one has a mild to severe interest in. It could be that Soulflower isn't a fan of obscure music as you might think but she like some mainstream artists and music but bemoans the state it's in.

I agree with Nea. I don't see why it bothers people when people express their feelings on the current state of pop music. This is a public music forum. That's the purpose of it :/

Also I take it you don't like any music from this year?

I'm not going to mention anything I found new this year here because I don't want to tick off people for being repetitive when I mention it again in my journal. I don't want to be seen gloating about it or constantly mentioning it, even in a positive way.
