Christmas is coming! Gimme your weirdest Christmas songs!

As I ponder what to do with my journal this Christmas (DON'T be rude!) I thought it might be a cool idea to do a top 10/20 of the strangest, weirdest Christmas songs ever. So if anyone's interested in sending me links I'll choose the top 10 or 20, depending on the level of interest, and feature them in my journal over the final week in Christmas.

To qualify, the song has to be a) not very well known or not known at all b) taking a different look at or putting a different slant on Christmas and c) a bit of fun.

Anyone interested post your ideas here (but don't post videos) and if there's enough of a response I'll pick the top ten or twenty and feature them.

I need all submissions in by December 17, as I'll begin running the list on Dec 18.

Thanks.

The Residents - Seasoned Greetings

The musically weirdest Christmas song I know.

Psy-Fi 11-20-2014 01:53 PM

Here are three of my favorite weird Christmas songs...

Fishbone - Slick Nick, You Devil You

The Residents - Santa Dog

Tiny Tim - Santa Claus Has Got the AIDS this Year

Magnetic Fields - Everything Is One Big Christmas Tree comes to mind. Not the strangest song, but there is a chorus in German, so there's that.

The Batlord 11-20-2014 01:58 PM

I don't know how weird it is, but "Fuck Christmas" by Tankard is the only Christmas thrash metal song I can think of off the top of my head.

Frownland 11-20-2014 01:58 PM

Oh ja, plus John Zorn's Blues Nöel.

Machine 11-20-2014 02:14 PM

Don't know if it counts as weird, but not something you would usually associate with Christmas, but Jesu - Chrostmas is awesome.

Hybrid Kids - O, Come All Ye Faithful
It's sadly not on youtube. Every fan of weird **** should check it out though.

Hadn't heard that before. On checking "Claws" out I thought "eh just another Residents influenced band" but as the album went on I noticed that there was a lot more to it. Thanks mate.

Twisted Sister - "Deck the Halls" (They have an entire Christmas album, but this seems to be the best one.)

Manowar - "Silent Night"

Halford - "We Three Kings" (Also has an entire Christmas album!)

Amon Amarth - "Jingle Bells" (Seriously.)

Alice Cooper - "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"

King Diamond - "No Presents for Christmas"

Dio/Tony Iommi - "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"

Lemmy Kilmister, Billy F. Gibbons, Dave Grohl - "Run Rudolph Run"

GWAR - "Stripper Christmas Summer Weekend"

Christopher Lee - "Little Drummer Boy" (It's Christopher Lee singing a metal version of a Christmas classic, and it's quite possibly the best song I've listed.)

Necromancer 11-20-2014 07:26 PM

Santa Claus is coming to town by Bruce Springsteen sounds so awful it's weird.

The ones I've bolded were used last year in "Have yourself a Metal little Christmas", so I'm reluctant to repeat myself, but I will look into the others, esp Christopher Lee. Sounds interesting!

Yeah but just sounding awful doesn't qualify. And read the criteria in the OP again: it has to be very obscure. Don't think you could say that about the Boss.

Pretty sure I've posted this somewhere before but still;

Happy Flowers - All I Got Was Clothes For Christmas

Oh, you totally have to hear that Christopher Lee song. He sings in an opera baritone that makes it pretty unique, while still being straight-forward, badass metal. Unfortunately he also released a pretty painful symphonic metal album called Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross.

These might be too mainstream by now:

neardeathexperience 11-23-2014 08:42 AM

Oh I have one that nobody has probably ever heard it's called Santa Claus Came In The Spring by Benny Goodman with Joe Harris singing the lyrics..........This has to be one of the weirdest Christmas songs ever!

RL Clown 12-10-2014 04:07 PM

I like Christmas, but I also like this song. (I'm Buddhist, by the way.) But I don't have a problem with people who celebrate Christmas.

Insane Clown Posse f. ABK - I Hate Santa Claus - YouTube

Isbjørn 12-11-2014 02:48 AM
