Does 19 count?
If you mean 13-17, about 1% of it.

I still like all the genres of my various teen phases, but not necessarily some of the specific bands. I still like punk, but not The Clash. Still like prog, but can't stand Pink Floyd. I think I still like everything from when I was 18 or 19... Lou, Iggy, Dolls, Residents, etc.
Oh, I went through a soulless fusion phase in there somewhere - Al DiMeola, Return to Forever, etc. Ugh. I didn't get into my current favorite band until I was 32. |

I'm 18 now, so I'll go by 13-16ish.
Around 13 I was really into pretty much everything popular, being a standard kid. Some classic rock and metal squeezed it's way in via influence of family members and/or Guitar Hero. Don't really listen to any of this and can't honestly think of many examples. Around 16 I was really into what most people label "dadrock", as well as classic country. I'm still into most of this, though I don't listen to it often. Examples would be The Beatles, Conway Twitty, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Creedence Clearwater Revival, so on. Now I listen to pretty much everything and anything, but I mostly listen to Indie Rock/Alt Rock, Surf Rock and every form of Blues.

I was never a huge music fan other than Michael Jackson I didn't listen to much else. I picked up interest in music a few years ago just recently. Now I still enjoy some of MJ's music on top of that I listen to avant garde/free jazz and some rock but I mostly lean toward punk, avant garde and free jazz. Other than enjoying some rock artists I don't consider myself a rock fan. I like experimental, technical **** mostly. I may soon explore the world of classical music.

Not much. I listen to some of the same genres but the stuff I listened to then was stuff not as good. Some of the Hip-Hop I listened to when I was a kid included Nelly, P. Diddy, 50 Cent and the like. Bands - Limp Bizkit & Linkin Park.
The only artists I can think of that I loved then and still love now are Outkast. Ended up liking them more once I got access to illegal downloads and could find out more about their discography. I don't when I listen to the stuff I liked when I was 12 with them, like I do with Limp Bizkit etc. |

I was mainly into crappy core bands, grunge, hard rock, "djent" (hate even thinking of that term now) and music jpop/vkei
the only thing I've kept from those times is music from Japan. never would I have imagined getting into hip hop but there are no regrets there

A lot, come to think of it. I still like maudlin of the Well, Leftover Crack, The Book of Knots, Swans, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, bunch of stuff I was into as a teenager. My tastes have expanded I guess but I still listen to most things I used to. In my early teens I just listened to whatever was on TV or the radio since I had no money and no computer so I don't count that.

I do occasionally listen to stuff from my teens, mostly stuff like The Jam, U2, Simple Minds, The Police, The Housemartins and The Clash. Its amazing how music from your teens sticks with you and brings back memories. However, I think the music around my early twenties probably influenced me the most.
P.S. I also sometimes get embarrassed at some of the stuff in my collection from my teens (e.g. Level 42 What was I thinking???) |
