Musical Doldrums
Lately, I've lost the desire to discover new music. I seem to be stuck on listening to the same stuff I've already heard dozens of times. Every time I try something fresh, I don't have the patience to finish an album. It will pass, I'm sure, but I'm curious if anyone else has experienced the same feeling, and if so, how they snapped out of it.

Pretty much this. That or hang around people that have good, but different tastes.

For me the hunt is always re-ignited when I start discovering a genre I haven't explored yet. If you're happy with where you are in music right now then there's no need to beat yourself up over not exploring, if you start to get sick of listening to the same albums over and over you'll naturally seek out new ones.

Maybe try listening to a genre you've never really checked out before.

I've given new genres a listen before, but when I was bored with music, it more so hurt my chances of getting into whatever. Such is the case with skramz, and post-rock. I gave GY!BE a listen when I was completely bored, and it took me more than a few years after that to actually enjoy them. To this day, I still don't like lift yr skinny fists, and of all their albums I find it the most boring out of their discog.

As simple as this sounds, this is basically it for me. It's really not a problem to listen to the same stuff over and over. If you're enjoying your music, who gives a crap whether or not you're on top of the newest releases and following the latest musical trends? Music isn't a contest, it's a hobby. Just have fun. If you're not having fun with what you're listening to, that's another story entirely. But as long as that's the case, listen to the same song 50 times in a row as far as I'm concerned. Just as long as it sounds good every time.

This is really the best way. I discovered a love of film by being way too overengaged in music. I needed a break and found a new passion. Now I write movie reviews and question why I still come around here.

Honestly if you want any suggestions I mean this is a music site so I'm sure lots will help including me. But as far as I can say you just have to find inspiration, try theneddledrop he reviews tons of underground and new exiting music.
