It's cute seeing you try to make music analogous to unrelated things.
How? It's claiming to have created something when you haven't actually done anything. You can't compose silence. It's common sense. That's just called sitting on your ass.

Many of those compositions are written, so they did do something. And since when does compositional skill equate to something being music or a composition? Don't you listen to Manowar?

I'm gonna go sh*t on a canvas and then sell it to some pretentious upper west side Central Park New Yorker for $5,000.

Then I'm gonna sit in my chair with my guitar 20 feet away and record a 12:24 minute piece. I'll post it on Youtube tomorrow.

F*ck it, I'll post it right now. Hope you enjoy!

Would've been so much better if your guitar was 15 feet away dude.

But I have a 20 foot cable and really hate wasting potential.

Wasted potential? That's a political statement waiting to happen if you don't use the whole thing.

Wrote what? Rests? Pauses? If there isn't any sound to pause from then you may as well be clapping with one hand.

And I wasn't criticizing anybody's compositional skill, or even a silent "song"'s relevance as art, just the idea that silence can be a composition.
