I sometimes get the feeling, that people who get really angry about some stuff they deem pretentious take it far more serious than the artists themselves.
Especially if you take into account, that a lot of so called modern art is basically, or at least partly, trolling.

i remember seeing the TBG doc 'Gigantic: a tale of 2 johns' and in it there is a scene where john explains that his fan interpret his songs in a more profound way than he ever intended. he also goes on to say he doesn't like correcting them because their interpretation is better than his original message. Oh, that clip is from a film called 'Pootie tang' which is widely regarded as an awful film but imo the movie is not that bad it's just silly & Cheesy.

i think it sucks. yea you can make a pretty poetic argument for it being music and i might even agree but once i get the point i still won't enjoy listening to it. honestly no matter how clever an idea it is i can't imagine myself with headphones on listening to that **** for entertainment. i would honestly rather take the actual random sounds of the world cause they'd be far more interesting and that's honestly at like the bare minimum for me when it comes to sound being interesting.

How would you know you were listening to it unless they announced it beforehand?

Personally, I don't consider it "music" because there is another perfectly good word for it "performance art."
