Default Music playing in your head?

Have you ever had music just start playing in your head? I was just dozing off to sleep an hour ago and suddenly heard the third movement of Dvorak's "New World" Symphony just start playing. I can normally "think" a melody, but this was the whole thing, and it just came. My brain seemed to be channelling the ambient sounds in my room into the music. Anyone else had this happen or heard of it?

I usually have some nonexistent free jazz song I'm making up while I get my walk on.

Jim Morrison once descibed writing songs as "taking notes at a fantastic rock and roll concert going on in my head". Doesn't seem too different from what you're doing. Check your inbox BTW.

I'm not sure there is ever a time when a song is not going through my head.

Sometimes I dream of music I never heard before in real life. Really good stuff too. I wonder if earworms while you sleep seem more audible than when you are awake.

On this topic, I pose another question? Does anyone think of a calming song to play in your head so you can sleep? I do that almost every night. It surprisingly helps.

I hear entire songs full of details in my head all at once, but I'm always too impatient to take the time and try to translate it into the real world with instruments I have laying around. It's nice to hear when it happens, though... it feels amazing like all of the emotions and thoughts running through my head decided to start a band or something.

Most times im consciously thinking of a song in my head and if it's a song i know well i can hear it very clearly.
On rare occasions though if im listening to one cd over and over or a video game soundtrack for a long period of time the songs unconsciously pop into my head.

On multiple times ive heard the music in skyrim outta nowhere

Usually when that happens, as soon as I notice, it stops.

I have this all the time and it's extremely annoying at night.
I often can't sleep because of it.
