No idea about anything online, but look for a journalist called Everett True. He led the charge.

Edit: here's a treat for you. Everett True reviewing the deluxe edition of Siamese Dream

Music columns | Smashing Pumpkins | There are lines in the sand ... and then there are lines in the sand | COLLAPSE BOARD
haha, I'll look in to it and check that link out too.

To be fair. Billy Corgan wasn't too shabby of a song writer. But he wasn't great either. He was hit and miss. Still is.

I've been paying attention to music of a long time - I've never heard this. Where are you guys getting it from?

Pearl Jam tended to have more imitators than Nirvana did.

I'm not getting it from anywhere. It was merely something I was wondering, because for some reason that thought popped in my head, and so I asked about it here since The Smashing Pumpkins came up in the discussion.

I've never heard anyone say that either. Bush? Yes. Smashing Pumpkins? No. They don't sound anything like Nirvana at all.

Can you really knock Bush too much for having their influence of Nirvana being forefront in their music? Bush didn't make half bad music at all, some of it is pretty good and they've been my favorite grunge band for many, many years.

They're not so much a grunge band these days, not really. More like a mainstream rock/pop band with grunge tendencies.

Yes, of course I can.

That wasn't my point though. My point was that it was Bush, not Smashing Pumpkins, who were frequently derided as being a Nirvana knockoff during the 90s.

I guess in my mind, Bush were more than a band that had a heavy Nirvana sound to their music.

But you're right, now that you point it out for me. Bush was definitely the band that a lot of people were saying were a Nirvana clone. Even I thought that, still I found that I liked their music, and so I listened, and still do.

Ahhh Bush, the British band nobody in Britain had heard of until they sold about 10 million albums in the States.
And it still didn't make us care one iota.
