Songs with deep and relevant lyrics
 

I am looking for songs whose lyric make very much sense, you know.
Songs like "Tears in heaven" from Eric Clapton, "Llévame al cielo" from The Kumbia Kings, "What a wonderful world" from Louis Armstrong. Songs whose lyrics have their own story, how they arrived to the composer mind..

How about Paul Simon/Simon and Garfunkel? Kathy's Song, America, and The Late Great Johnny Ace all spring to mind. The story behind Kathy's song is particularly interesting.

I'm sorry but I just don't understand the question. You want songs that make sense? Unless they were stolen, ALL lyrics arrived to a composers mind. Do you mean you want songs with a more complex and philosophical/spiritual/human meaning?

Doesn't seem like a hard question to me, Exo, although maybe not worded very well. Name songs with great lyrics. That's why I would choose the great Veronica. Makes me wanna bawl.

Yes this song only contains two lines repeated over and again, but I've always loved these lyrics. It's the ultimate sardonic expression of the nature of life repeating itself until the end, just like it does in life.

The last track, Soft Places (27:45) is a very powerful track that highlights gentrification among other things. Billy Woods' lyricism is great all around but his play on Jack and the Beanstock really adds a lot to that track.
