I believe a big reason he has not yet been granted parole is for his own safety. A lot of people would go after this guy. The man was or is clearly mentally ill and until such a time he's no longer a threat to the public (I doubt that he is now) he'll remain in prison. We shouldn't keep him locked up longer than it takes to punish/treat/reform him just because his victim was famous.

I used to wish they'd just strap him down and give him a lethal injection but that's much too kind for a scumbag like him.

Perhaps another fact is that this assassination happened on American soil to perhaps one of the Uks most famous citizens. Not on our watch so to speak will the United States of America allow this individual to see the light of day again.
