Swans - The Seer Swans 2012 epic The Seer is one monolith of an album. From the lumbering Gothic folk-rock opener of Lunacy, to the half an hour display of completely needed excess of the title track. The album is filled with tracks that can both bludgeon your eardrums (Mother Of The World, The Apostale), and sweeter moments that can remind me of anything from post-rock to country ballads (Piece Of The Sky, A Song For A Warrior, The Wolf). The songs don't feel overly long at any point, unlike some albums coughToBeKindcough. And to me becomes a completely enjoyable and fuffliling experience. |

Coin Locker Kid - Traumnovelle (2013) When Janszoon introduced this guy to me in plug I was pretty floored by his style on the track. I hadn't heard anything quite like it. Dark, weird, tribal and a unique style of "rapping". However, that track was taken off an earlier album. And whilst I do enjoy his older works for their uniqueness and how dark they can be at times - they don't come close to Traumnovelle for me in terms of enjoyment. This album is a whole other beast. It combines the abstract tendencies of old with more straight to the point catchiness. A fine example of this is "Rollergrrrl". A track that kicks right off with a bouncing beat, whirling sounds and a neat verse/chorus from CLK. The combination of a conventional beat, and off-kilter effects is magical. But what makes this track (and album) special is what happens after the chorus ends. It descends into a sonic freak-out, eventually returning to the chorus. It's the merging of mainstream sensibilities and the obvious experimental tendencies CLK brings to the plate that makes this album a wondrous experience for me.

124. Coil - Horse Rotorvator While i don't think this is Coil at their best....their later works in my opinion are much better than their early work....i do think this is their most important album.... Horse Rotorvator truly challenges the listener...this album is nothing short than an audio trip through the concepts of sex and death....separate and together this is also quite possibly the best introduction to Industrial music one can have....it really does explore all aspects of the genre while creating something truly personal and real....from the clamoring hysteria of The Anal Staircase and Circle of Mania to the almost Baroque feeling of Ostia and then exploring deep into the darkness with Blood From the Air....this album is unlike anything else you will ever hear |

125. Epicloud --- Devin Townsend Project --- 2012
It's seldom I come across an album that is flawless, has no bad tracks and that even the bonus disc is great, but Devin's "Epicloud" is one of them. So much so that it featured as the inaugural album for my "Perfect 10" slot in my journal, cos that's what it is. I won't write more as I've lavished enough praise over it in my journal, go there if you want to read more, but it definitely deserves a place here.

#126: The Doors - The Doors
There is a shortage of "classic" albums on this list. However, this choice won't surprise anyone. It's one of the greatest debut albums of all time, and contains the group's two best-known songs. The Doors were and still are the masters of acid rock. John Densmore's jazzy drumming, Robby Krieger's punchy guitar lines, Ray Manzarek's nimble organ work, and of course Jim Morrison's inimitable baritone voice join seamlessly to create a distinct, edgy, haunting sound. Possibly the best album of 1967. And that means a lot.
