Introduce your playlist.
For a couple years now, since 2011. I have been listening to music on iTunes quite a bit. As my collection grew I stopped playing my entire music library on shuffle. Some music just didn't feel right being played along side each other. So I compartmentalized my music into playlists. It turned out to be brilliant idea because now I have assorted flavors to listen through depending on my mood.
Here are screenshots to show case in point. http://img9.uploadhouse.com/fileuplo...9cb387ab1e.jpg http://img0.uploadhouse.com/fileuplo...8224367331.jpg http://img2.uploadhouse.com/fileuplo...aa17f0a737.jpg |
You have a good taste!

Phew! thought this thread was dying, thanks for the compliment!

I'm much more of an album guy than a playlist guy, but at work I usually don't have time to choose an album every 45 minutes. So I've created a bunch of massive playlists with many hours or many days worth of music in them which I listen to on random depending on my mood. The major ones are:

I'm usually an album guy too, at least most of the time. My playlists on spotify are an all-purpose playlist, for when I'm in the mood for a playlist of just certain songs, which I edit when I need it, and the Ultimate Shuffle. That is strictly for putting on and just shuffling everything that I listen to, I like to do that sometimes. Spotify has a 10000 song limit for playlists, so I created a folder consisting of multiple playlists, and I'm forever adding to it. It's got like 60000 songs so far.
There's also a Nirvana playlist of songs from With the Lights Out and other places, and a playlist filled with songs to listen to when I'm feeling down. ....And my Manowar playlist #Death2FalseMetal by Loren Zibull on Spotify |
It's hard for me to listen to music album at a time, maybe it's the artists I listen to but it gets monotonous. I need a break in the sound (not necessarily contrast) but another voice, riff style, etc. Even alternating between two artists extends my listening time.
Also creating playlists is kind of fun, I get to play around with naming schemes. I do like making it somewhat cryptic so I got to play my list to remember why it got the name. |
Albums are my playlists. Other than that I just pick whatever song I feel like listening to.

@Wpnfire It's nice to finally have someone with a similar opinion. I'd be hard pressed to find an album with every song in there I like. I usually end up skipping along songs, which makes it rather cumbersome. So why not take matters into my own hands and build a playlists of songs that aren't skippable.
I feel playlists are undervalued here. Nor are there as many people here as obsessed with micromanaging them as me. |

I'll usually make a CD by the time I get off of work to take with me to a friends house, where we work on small engine vehicles, and other ****. I'll make the CD with what my friends tastes are in mind (usually), and then leave it for him. There's quite a few no-name CD's, some full albums, some of my self produced stuff, and some that have been numbered, or named like the Metalli-Steve one with some Metallica, Steve Vai, Stevie Wonder, Steve Stevens, and SRV.
Here's yesterdays CD playlist: |
