Mike Rutherford is kind of underrated if you ask me. Can't forget some Billy! Talas stuff is good, but here's some fresh: |

A pretty simple bassline but there's something about it that just carries the song, especially on the "la, la, la-la" parts:
|

Say what you will about the song, this bass line is money:
|
Godsmack - Immune
!!! - All My Heroes are Wierdos Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song Rammstein - Asche Zu Asche Rammstein - Der Meister Metallica - Eye of the Beholder Megadeth - Poison Was the Cure 311 - Misdirected Hostility 311 - DLMD Sublime - April 26th 1992 |
Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away
I love this song's funky slap bass line, so simple but distinctive. I like the song, too, but the bass line is what really stands out: Below is a cover of the bass line, showing how it is played using the slap and pop technique, which "involves slapping the lower two strings with the bony part of the thumb and popping notes on the higher two strings by pulling the string until it snaps against the fingerboard, producing a percussive sound" (Wikipedia). The guy obviously feels cool playing it. And who wouldn't! |
The bassline of this song plays constantly on my mind. |
The opening bass line is addicting.
|
Higher Ground (Red Hot Chili Peppers Version)
The Whale Song (Modest Mouse) Analog Kid (Rush) Jerry Was A Racecar Driver (Primus) My Name Is Mud (Primus) TV Party (Black Flag) I Am The Walrus (The Beatles) Do I Wanna Know? (Artic Monkeys) Rapper's Delight (Sugarhill Gang) I can't think of anymore at the moment |
Of all the many Joy Division and New Order songs I could mention here this is my favourite Peter Hook bass line. It's infectious. |
Anything by Pete Trewavas.
