Mike Rutherford is kind of underrated if you ask me.

Can't forget some Billy! Talas stuff is good, but here's some fresh:

A pretty simple bassline but there's something about it that just carries the song, especially on the "la, la, la-la" parts:

Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away

I love this song's funky slap bass line, so simple but distinctive. I like the song, too, but the bass line is what really stands out:

Below is a cover of the bass line, showing how it is played using the slap and pop technique, which "involves slapping the lower two strings with the bony part of the thumb and popping notes on the higher two strings by pulling the string until it snaps against the fingerboard, producing a percussive sound" (Wikipedia).

The guy obviously feels cool playing it. And who wouldn't!

Black Francis 03-02-2015 06:30 PM

The bassline of this song plays constantly on my mind.

Mister Mushroom 03-02-2015 08:10 PM
