if sharon lois and bram don't count, i think my first concert was Maceo Parker. definitely one of the best too.
but i think the best concert i ever went to was Tool @ Ontario Place. it might have been cuz it was outside... it also might have been the psychedelic drugs i was on and the dawning of my understanding of making odd time signatures groove, too. AND, Danny Carey's gong had the levels set way too high, and it was the loudest thing i've ever heard in my life. |

My first was Ocean Colour Scene at Newcastle City Hall in 2001. I was 17.
The best though is hard to say. I have fond memories of seeing Black Sabbath headline Download a few years ago. That was a huge, huge deal for me. Iron Maiden ive seen a few times, in arenas and at festivals. Seeing them play a set of material exclusively from their first four albums at Leeds festival in 2004 was a great experience. Metallica playing the Master of Puppets record in its entirety at Download in 2006 was also a really cool experience as they played just a big a part in me getting into metal as Sabbath and Maiden did. I'll always have a soft spot for seeing The Music at Newcastle University on the tour top promote ther debut album, back in 2001. The venue is great as it's quite compact and the band were just so loud, so full of energy and I can still remember being able to hear the vocals carry to the very back of the venue and I assume beyond. Very impressive stuff. Also Sunn 0))) at The Sage, Gateshead last year. They really took my breath away. I was mesmerized. |

First: Slayer. 1987. Nice introduction to gigs!
Favourite? Ministry in 2008 were simply brilliant but the most fun I ever have is when I see Dreadzone. Seen them 2 years running at the same venue (Bulldog was with me for the second gig) and they are the sort of band that that puts a great big fat smile on your face and I shall be seeing them again this year as they will no doubt play the same venue again.

Hah. I have nothing positive to say about the Bob Dylan concert I seen back in 08.
My father got free box seat tickets to the show from his work, and thank god the tickets were free. Around a quarter of the way when the show started my father dozed off, and I don't blame him. You could hardly manage to translate what Bob was singing, his terrible vocals were also exacerbated by his overall state of mind. It seemed as if he didn't even bother to give his fans a cloud of thought, and it seemed as if he just wanted to get the show over with from the get go, definitely not as I imagined it to be. As for myself, the first concert I remember attending was Barenaked ladies with my mother back when I was around 7 or 8. From what I remember it was a entertaining show. My favourite concert would probably have to be seeing Gogol Bordello back in 08, or 07 (can't remember). Almost got punched in the face by a gigantic Ukrainian looking fellow, got my white sneakers puked on, seen my high school auto's teacher absolutely **** faced, all the while listening to some amazing music. |
