The Bandcamp "Name Your Price" Thread.
I've seen this thread used on other forums I have been a member of, and I think its a great idea.
I think this is a wonderful tool used to promote and spread new music. For those of you unaware of the site and how it works; Its a site that hosts a musician/bands music for free, and allows it to be streamed, downloaded, and ultimately sold. The website has a function that allows the band to set their account up so that the fan picks the price they want to pay.. "Name Your Price". It allows the album to be grabbed for whatever YOU the fan feel like "donating" to the band. This thread is dedicated to bands/musicians who use that feature, and allow us the fans, to grab the music for whatever we deem it worth. So link us to pages you think are worth us knowing about! Try and give us some information: Genre, Thoughts on the band, so forth and so own. If this thread is not appropriate or in the correct section: Lock it, move it, whatever. And hopefully this doesn't turn into a thread where people with bands constantly throw their band out there. Not that there's anything wrong with that if you're an established member.

Electro-folk album, I thought it was pretty good. Calming. Good listen.

I love bandcamp (ya'll should follow me and my albeit limited collection here), and I've found some pretty cool stuff
Cloudkicker - Everything Cloudkicker Genre: Prog Metal, Post-Rock I think cloudkicker is one of the most well-known success stories on bandcamp, and for good reason: He's really, really ****ing good. He also releases all of his music online for free Cosmic Compositions Avant Garde Series Vol 3 [Sun Ra] Cosmic Compositions Avant Garde Series Vol Genre: Experimental hip-hop A fantastic collection of some really out there instrumental hip hop tracks. Yath Bhuta and Nomad's contributions stick out in particular French Exit - TV Girl French Exit | TV Girl Genre: Pop Some great experimental pop from this year The Dirty Feathers - Midnight Snakes Midnight Snakes | The Dirty Feathers Genre: Hard Rock, Psychedelic Rock See genre description above Lisabi - Senseless https://lisabi.bandcamp.com/album/senseless Genre: Experimental Rock Think a sadder TMV. Until This Day His Curse Is Still the Plague of Man | SUNN((RA)))
SUNN((RA))) makes some pretty decent dark ambient/drone stuff I dig. BIB VIO | biblical violence Biblical Violence is a local noise punk band I've seen play a few times, they're pretty good.

Eric Fourman
Free downloads for all of his albums, a pretty damn large discography, and the majority of what I've heard so far is some of the most ****ing beautiful ambient music that I've heard. |
