Hi, Pinkmoon - welcome to MusicBanter! Yes, we definitely do like a lot of the same artists! Dont'cha love when that happens? Also, I figured you liked Nick Drake based on your username and have noticed that Overcast is a Nick fan as well. Nice to have you both on the forums.

Great list there. Yo La Tengo and Pavement are on the top of my hit list. Seriously, I need to check them out already. Huge ups for Grandaddy.

Yeah, Nick Drake is great. I didn't even realize your name is Nick Drake related until now. Real nice list there too, a bit odd spotting Anberlin among all that. Not to say it's a bad thing, they were one of my favorite bands when I was younger. I should check them out again to see if they still hold up.

From what I've seen I'm willing to bet the majority of us here know of/enjoy Nick Drake.

Hi Ribbons, thanks for the welcome. I'm glad to meet you, and I'm glad to see so many familiar bands on your list!!

Hi Overcast, thanks! I'm a classic rock lover, but I also like a lot of alternative/indie stuff too...from back in the 80's, and some more modern! I do like Anberlin. I think you should revisit them, and let me know what you think!! I see you like Yo La Tengo too...like them a lot!!

I'm going to take a shot at this:

Animal Collective
The Beatles
The Cars
The Doors
Eagles
Fleet Foxes
Grizzly Bear
Buddy Holly
Ian & Sylvia
Billy Joel
The Kinks
Gordon Lightfoot
Moody Blues
Neutral Milk Hotel
of Montreal
Pink Floyd
Queen
Roxy Music
Paul Simon
Tame Impala
United States of America
The Velvet Underground
The Who
Xhol Caravan
Neil Young
Frank Zappa

Stuck to pop/rock, since the thread is about "bands". There were about five other "B" artists I could have included.

I'm definitely not going to be able to do this...

Might have two for some letters because I'm indecisive. Also, assuming solo artists count... (though not listing solo artists from other bands listed)

Aquabats, The/Albert King
Blind Willie Johnson
Codeine Velvet Club
Dick Dale (and his Del-Tones)
Estas Tonne
Fratellis, The/Freddie King
Ghastly Ones, The
Harry Nilsson/Holly Henry
Ink Spots, The
John Lee Hooker
King Tuff
Lightnin' Slim
Man or Astro-Man?
Nematoads, The
Olivia Jean
PAWS
Q(?)
Robert Johnson
Sleepy Kitty
Troubadour Dali
Unwed Teenage Mothers, The
Voltaire*
White Stripes, The
X(?)
Y(?)
Z(?)

*He goes by Aurelio Voltaire now, but it counts, right?

Missing a few, sadly.
It appears I need to listen to more Q/X/Y/Z artists.
