Same with Dinosaur Jr after Bug
.
Really? I wasn't a huge fan of the newest album but the one before that was pretty good, imo. And almost every album Dino did after Bug had at least a few good tracks on um, albeit with some really lousy ones.

I agree, there's good tracks on most of their records. But to me they really toned it down after Bug, and even the good tracks don't have the edge that they had at the beginning.

I feel Mascis has been churning out the same stuff for years, and while he is definitely a good guitarist, I don't really follow them now. I haven't heard their last record - but yeah, Farm did have some good songs.

You're Living... is one of my all time favourites, though. I don't feel they came close to that level on any of their other records.

I think Garbage lived up to their name. Sorry I just could never stand them.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

I agree with Garbage idk why but i had high hopes for that band but they didn't quite deliver.

Same with Weezer i used to love them but they kinda peaked by their 2nd album imo.

Agreed, though IMO they peaked on their first album.

What bothers me about Weezer is that I KNOW they still can make the kind of songs they made in the past, it wasn't a fluke, they weren't a one hit wonder ya know? they had talent but they seem to chose the route of making mainstream hits..

which i get, one crappy hit single that gets air play will get them more money than a good song that's unpopular..

like you i do think the blue album is their best work but pinkerton has 'Across the sea' which is probably my fav weezer song.

Forced Entry could have headlined shows here over almost any of the famous Seattle bands before Nevermind was released. Yet most of you have never heard of them

My Sister's Machine never made it out of here either, another headline act before the stupid music press decided that Seattle was worth some money to them

I like them both but my heart belongs to Pinkerton. I don't hate the green album but I haven't bought anything they've put out past that.

I think the biggest thing stopping Weezer from duplicating that level of success is the fact that Rivers Cuomo just doesn't want to get that personal again. He was dealing with physical pain from surgery, being bipolar, feeling lonely and disillusioned with the rock star life etc etc, and that resulted in some really emotional material.

Good point, i never thought of it like that their later work does seem very unpersonal.

Interpol are the big one for me. I love their first two albums, their other two suck. Even with the first two I always felt they had the potential to do something special, which they never did. They never made the 'classic' that I know they could have made.
