Is that because you listen to the stero typical hipster music. Step away from the MBV record.....that's it, slooooowly.

When the band's lead singer gets the crowd to sing the chorus or other parts of the song. This is where the lead singer doesn't do any singing during this part.

What really bothers me is when they add the "crackling" sound, like as if it's playing on an old record or something. An example would be Incubus - Summer Romance. I have the tune cranked, I don't want to listen to crackling!

This is a notoriously bad habit for Rob Zombie, he'll literally sing like single words or half lines sometimes.

A lot of them do it. I think it might be because they can't hit the high notes live like they could on the album, or it's that they're on a long tour and the lead singer's voice is shot or something. That, or they're lazy or too strung out.

Even with otherwise good music, badly or awkwardly written polyphony drives me up the wall.

Mixing with too much damn reverb. (And/or bad reverb)

Conor Oberst's voice.

70s rock bands who have a 10 minute plus 'blues' number.

Songs that sound like a thousand other songs.

This is a really ****ing personal thing, but when I hear a song and the chords don't go the way I want them to it really pissed me off and turns me off to the song. Don't know why it just ****ing pisses me off.

It's even funnier when the audience don't know the words, or just couldn't be bothered. You end up with the singer sort of mouthing half the lines, realising nobody is going to join in and then coming in mid-sentence himself, like say

"Take it easy, take it easy. Don't let the" (pause as microphone held out over audience, no response) "... make you crazy."
Followed by a few shouts of "Yeah!" meaning "You ****ing bastards let me down and made me look like an *******! I'm ****ed if we're ever coming here again!"
