Violent Femmes is instant "hang out at the park and crush on skater boys" nostalgia for me. I've never listened to The Stranglers, but holy s*** was I missing out!

I go through phases with genres/bands/artists, but I never tire of listening to these 10 and I don't think I've ever stopped listening to any of them for more than a few months at a time since I first heard them...

The Beatles
The Rolling Stones
Jimi Hendrix
Frank Zappa/The Mothers of Invention
Captain Beefheart/The Magic Band
The Doors

Neil Young/Crazy Horse
Sun Ra
John Coltrane
XTC

As far as current obsessions, I'm re-visiting my love for soul/funk/jazz with the following (again, in no particular order.)

Curtis Mayfield
Isaac Hayes
Roy Ayers
James Brown
Mandrill
Grupo Fantasma/Brownout
Marvin Gaye
War
Bernard "Pretty" Purdie
The Isley Brothers

I can't think of any guilty pleasure bands/artists. I'm going to see the three remaining members of The Monkees, at a club next month. They are probably as close as I ever get to guilty pleasure music.
Great choices, I have been really into the artists in bold at times.

I have to keep you on your toes bb. I have been underwhelmed with Gaga's album ARTPOP and Lana Del Rey has taken her place. Plus I'm about to burst as Lana is releasing a new album soon.

The problem with Franco Pepe Kalle is that he is a unpredictable character. There is surprising info about this man. You think he only likes Franco and Pepe Kalle but when you find out that he hears other artists, you are shock.

Important to notice FPK.

i did a little segment on them in my journal cause i don't see them get mentioned often.

i know that ppl love the clash, but why don't the stranglers get any love? they're a good band.

I feel so bad for Foals being surrounded by this company.
