Default Music Survey

Hey guys and gals,

I'm a student at Bath Spa University, currently working on creating a theoretical framework for the self-promotion of independent musicians. I'm trying to make 'business strategies' surrounding promotion pricing and distribution more effective in 2 ways; firstly by reconciling any differences in attitudes consumers and musicians have, and secondly by looking at new technologies - how to most effectively use what the internet provides. I've done some interviews with artists, and I'm sending out a survey to consumers. Anyway if anyone could fill out my survey below that would be fantastic, I'm sure you'll agree it's for a good cause!

Music Pricing, Promotion & Distribution Survey

Thanks a lot, to anyone to takes the minute or two it requires to fill it out

Yes, you made a very simple and polite survey, TiersenYann - it`s a pleasure to complete it for you, and I hope that other MB members are/will be doing the same. Good luck with your project!

Also, don`t miss my thread, coming soon: "Should surveys be completed for free?" Many people who are polled spend up to ten seconds of their lives, and yet they get no reward. Their ideas are copied, pirated, used by others...

I've done surveys for money, but they're of the "In-Person" type. I once did a 2 day sports drink survey (20 minutes on a stationary bike each day, then drink the product and answer some questions) for $150.00.

^ That seems like an easy way to makes some money, Plankton.

When I was in high school, some of us considered going to the Cold Research Institute, where they put you up for two weeks, give you a cold, and pay you for it. Even though we wanted the cash, no one was adventurous enough to do more than get their brochure though.

Screw. That. I don't like playing around with my body... well, not like that anyway.

Filled it out for ya.

I had more answers to question number 5, than would fit in the 'other' box.
I also get my music from record/CD shows, concerts, band/artist website, music blogs, yard/garage sales, flea markets.

^ Yes, I found a couple of questions somehow missed the option that applied to me as well, Psy-Fi.

Yeah, there are some experiments that I`d be prepared to tolerate. Just in the interests of science of course...

Done. I would add another option to the question about where you get to hear new music mostly, as for me it's here and a few select album vendors I use, noted in my answer to the question "where do you buy from?"

Decent survey. Wasn't packed with stupid, irrelevant questions and recognised the growing role torrents are playing in music downloading, though many ISPs --- especially here in Ireland --- are making it harder by blocking access to such sites.

Best of luck!
