I talk about music with my boyfriend quite a lot although he likes metal and I don't really haha. We still have a lot of bands/musicians and dj's that overlap though. But most of the metal stuff is far too heavy for me.

I'm not sure that "cool" is the first adjective that springs to mind when I think of HHGTTG

Also, if you can't laugh at at least one thing in HHG2TG you're dead inside.

Landlord of pub: "Going to the match this afternoon sir?"
Ford Prefect: "No. No point."
Landlord: "Ah yes. Arsenal without a chance, eh?"
Ford: "No. It's just that the world is going to end."
Landlord: "Yes, so you keep saying sir. (Pause) Lucky escape for Arsenal if it did, eh?"
Ford: "Not really, no."

This is definitely true of some people. Some music lovers will actually start a conversation with someone about music just to look down on their music taste in some kind of exercise in being a pretentious douche, or "different", or to make themselves feel superior in some way. However, plenty people who have a more mainstream music taste will be just as pretentious by criticising styles of music they know little to absolutely nothing about.

Anyway, I have a few people to talk music with. One in my closest group of friends. He's my gig buddy, my fellow sludge lover, but with a relatively open mind to bands and artists from Burzum through to The Smiths and Jethro Tull and Nina Simone. Music is a big, big foundation for our friendship. The only other people I feel comfortable with talking to about music and being myself in doing so, I dont see anywhere near as often. But will still go to local shows with them or go and see their bands etc.

I joined up here to be able to talk about music more freely and discover more of it from like minded or knowledgeable people. I still like and need that, but I could be doing much worse when it comes to having people I can do that with in IRL also.

Aww how sweet! I miss you too. I feel like I don't have much time around here to interact properly, which is a shame. I just have a busy life. And yeah he treats me better than I could possibly have expected (never had a boyfriend before him) so I'm enjoying being in a relationship although it's new and strange.

I still have no idea what HHG2TG is. Been trying to break down the acronym and I've got nothing.

I had an excellent convo with Steph, Manky and Hermione on FB last night about music and other things. Not sure it counts as IRL though, considering it was with between internet friends on the internet.

May as well share it here:

Stephenie Darnielle

Hermione Matilda Stark
Mark E Smith? Isn't he that guy who did some crazy rap album and killed a Korean guy???

Stephenie Darnielle
Kathleen Hanna killed Kurt Cobain.

Tom Clancy
No, that was Noel Gallagher, frontman of The Fall.

Hermione Matilda Stark
