Coldplay. I can't stand them and it's not rational. I think almost every song they do is ok, not my cup of tea but not god awful. Yet every time I hear average song after average song it just grates until average becomes painful I just want to slap Chris Martin in the face.

You know what made me hate them all the more? Everybody kept going on about the abstract meaning of the word Yellow in the song Yellow. All these imitation intellectuals telling me how it's like feeling blue, it's supposed to be subjective so everybody can interpret how they like.

I then find out that he simply picked the name Yellow because he couldn't think of anything and when he wasn't able to think it just so happened he was looking at the Yellow Pages a yellow telephone directory.

Hate them.

I hate them for the simple reason that Chris Martin is in bed with one of my top five dream ladies. Therefore all his music must be **** (logically).

Coldplay have some decent stuff off their first two albums. I can listen to it, it's mostly dull and bland but some of it is nice. Yellow is a good track also.

EDIT - And yeah, Chris Martin - wanker.

I agree. The two next albums aren't nowhere near as good (haven't heard the last one)

HAH. I don't know why, but I actually found that comment to be really funny. I feel the same about that kind of Spanish music.

But my irrational music hatred... Hm. I would have to say a lot of the mainstream folk bands, like the Lumineers or Edward Sharpe. I think the irrational part comes in because of how much their songs are repeated on the radio. Given the amount that I listen to the radio when I drive, you could say that about most of the top 40. If I can get myself to calm down and just listen to those folk bands though, they're actually not that bad, and the lyrics are usually pretty deep.

Stone Temple Pilots. I loathe their songs. I have a violent reaction every time "Flies in the Vaseline" is played. Or anything off that album-- thankfully, I've forgot the name. And literally everyone I know enjoys them. I just really, really hate them. Wish I had some poetic, elaborate reason as to why, but I just feel that they're ****ty in my soul.

I know! I can't explain it. It's like hearing Nickleback, but not really, since so many folks like STP. The last time I heard this song was in some dive bar and I just raged against it, of course, the drinks I had helped produce that particular response. I suppose when I'm not pissy the "violent reaction" is muted, but still present-- simmering below the surface...

I always thought Nickelback was more popular than STP. I didn't even realize that STP was relevant to mainstream rock radio anymore, although that may have changed now that Chester Bennington is their lead vocalist. LOL

*groan* Linkin Park and STP elements mixed together (I didn't even know this happened)? I could stomp on a bag of kittens.
