Screenwriter's request for info
To keep it brief; I have a script I'll be pitching as soon as I can get the sales/marketing plan completed. The lead is female and a singer. There are three songs in it, including the title song (and, as is customary, the genre is not specific).
The music represents an opportunity for me and my question is; who is further up the food chain of a parent company (the film division being at the top), the A&R rep for the label(s) or the publisher? My objective is to enlist their support for the script by mentioning it to people in the film division someone like me does not normally have access to, suggesting one of their clients for the role. |

I decided to "attack" the problem from a different angle and find the right person (physically) for the lead roll. A retired professor (music department, FSU) has offered to give me his objective opinion on the quality of her voice. If she can act, well, that'll be up to the studio to decide.
And wow! There are fifty million people writing scripts, but have come to realize there are more musicians going for the brass ring (and just as many sharks swimming in between). |
