Talking How do you collect your music in the second decade of the 21st century?

Music files? CDs? Vinyl? Combination? Please answer the attached poll.

I would also like to discuss how one goes about collecting music when one is a nomad... or in other words, when one has to keep moving due to circumstances like career change, location change etc. Physical CDs become too tedious to lug around. Sighhhhh! I love CDs though.

Ugh!! It won't let me add the poll because I took too long! Could a moderator please add the poll?

Poll options:
Music files / Digital
CDs
Vinyl
Combination of digital and CDs
Combination of vinyl and CDs
Combination of vinyl, CDs and digital
Any other combination? Please describe.
Cassette?? :p

I'm still into the CD-albums. I have a nice collection. But, I digitalize everything. So, all the music is on backup disks. Just for preparation on the future

When I have extra money, it's vinyl. I don't waste my money on CDs or downloads.

CDs for me, that's if I can find what I'm looking for in stores. Haven't found an album I want to own as a vinyl.

CDs, sometimes digital, usually when I only want one song.

I used to collect cds & vinyl but went digital when I ran out of storage space for my collection. I have over 5000 cds & vinyl albums and I got sick of having to move them every time I changed addresses.

I'm selling off my physical collection but I have around 100,000 digital music files from over 10,000 albums stored on my computer. The music is served on my computer using a beautiful sounding Sonos Play5 sound system.

Vinyl > CD

lol at paying for digital downloads also. If I'm paying for something I want it to exist outside of my hard drive. & If the artist can't be bothered to get physicals pressed up then I'm having it for free thank you very much.

Most is illegally downloaded though. I used to collect CD's a lot between 2000-2003 until they all got pinched. I only buy music if I consider it a 5* album, music is far too expensive, thank God for the internet. I reckon CD's would be around £20 now if downloading hadn't happened. It had reached £15.99 in shops 10 years ago ffs.
