Guitar Excellence
This is probably THE most subjective topic, and a timeless one for those of us who love awesome guitar playing.
Irrespective of whether you like or dislike the music, who appreciates technical greatness? The less well known are often the finest. Jyrki 'Muddy' Manninen is from Finland. Check him out. |

Got a specific vid by him to check? Found some vid of him jamming a bit of solo blues but wouldn't call it 'technical'
Sometimes I appreciate technical excellence on guitar, sometimes I don't. Depends on the player. If you want an amazing technical player that's criminally overlooked check out Scott Mishoe. He put out one album called Omnidirectional in 1995. Check the track 'Sonic Chaos' on YT. Another guy I randomly discovered is a Russian called Arkadiy Starodoub. Don't think he's released any stuff but the video 'Clips 1-5' on YT is worth checking. Then again one person's idea of technical greatness might be someone else's idea of emotionless fretwanking so who knows! |

I saw him play with Eric Clapton 7-8 years ago. Man can that dude play. He was doing half the soloing and I was gawking at him like crazy. So many licks. I can't say I'm a big fan of him anymore but he deserves props.
