^There's been a few albums I've really enjoyed but nothing that's blown me away, that I would recommend to anyone and everyone. So I guess not a great year, but not terrible either.

Out of interest what are the few albums that you've enjoyed this year?
I feel I've been extremely slow on the uptake of new music in the last 6 months

Usually by this point in the year, we're half way in...I can compose a list of around 10 or so albums that I enjoyed and a few I can tell will end up becoming personal favourites.
But this year I'd be scratching pretty hard to try get about 5 albums.
Anyone else finding this?
I'm pretty disappointed by 2014 from a musical standpoint. It's been pretty good in other regards.
I've certainly found myself a little more selective about what I am keeping and what I would put out on a "Best of" list. If I had to make one now, I'd say at least 4 albums out of 10 would be filler.

Some years are like that though.

Damn for real? I could probably put together a solid top 40 or 50 of the year of albums that i genuinely think are really good or better. This last month and a half or so ive found a ton of albums that ive fallen for. And i still feel behind.

I really dug the new Eyehategod. It was by no means the best from them, but as a huge fan already, I really like it.

The new Satan Satyrs album was good too, granted, not as good as the debut offering.

And I finally got around to checking out the new Thee Oh See's album, Drop, and I thought it was a solid release. That new The War on Drugs, as Moss mentioned, was good. And I have been meaning to check out the new Sun Kil Moon that Moss also mentioned, it sounded promising what I heard of it anyway.

Many of my favorite releases have been metal, and I haven't really checked out a ton of non-metal 2014 releases for some reason. That being said I know there's some I'm dropping the ball on by not mentioning. I'll edit this post as I think of something though. A bit scatter brained right now.

I like that Neil launches a new music player because he hates the compressed ****yness of MP3s, then proceeds to record his next album in the worst fidelity possible.
