serious question, is the rock and roll hall of fame viewed as like a serious achievement or just kinda an award show type thing where they roll out the red carpet and go thru the motions but it really doesn mean much (like the espy awards in sports for those fmailiar). like do you think bands are bitter because they arent in or is it not really that big of a deal????

From my perspective, Kiss has always been a bit of a novelty band joke by four mediocre musicians to make a bundle of money.

I wouldn't vote for Kiss or like them anymore than you do, but that wasn't really the point. Performance is considered a part of what rock' n' roll is and Kiss are pretty much known for that. The hall of fame target rock icons primarily. Kiss have a gimmick. Kiss have an image. Kiss are hard rock' n' roll. Kiss had a huge reception. Kiss are iconic. That's why it's a bit surprising in my opinion.

I am pretty sure no one actually respects the hall of fame...I mean ABBA made it in before Black Sabbath....in the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME.

Regarding Paul Butterfield Blues band though Gavin good call. They are often overlooked. I only have one album (one with Blues with a feelin) and I LOVE it.

Nirvana is overrated since they released only two passable album ('Nevermind' and 'Unplugged' but The Replacements is one of the most underrated bands ever.
And never Kiss, they are awful. Just crap.

Abba is much better than Sabbath, but yes, Abba certainly are not rock n roll, but then, is Sabbath rock n roll either?

Unplugged is mostly pointless. Just wannabe arty crap that tries to call you out by saying "It's acoustic so therefore it's more artistically relevant and if you don't like it then you're a Philistine". None of the songs on that album are as good as the studio versions. "Dumb" is great, but it's still not better than the original. Why anyone would think that music derived from simplistic punk rock made specifically for electric instruments to be played at as high a volume as possible could be made better with quiet, acoustic strumming is beyond me. The fact that they had to ignore a large part of their catalogue and concentrate on their few "softer" songs should have given it away. The only reason to buy that album unless you're a Nirvana fanatic is the covers. "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" is easily one of the best songs they ever recorded (a song they were covering because it was played by a guy who plays on an acoustic guitar I might add).

Comparing ABBA to Black Sabbath is like comparing a tomato to a skewer.

Sabbath would totally skewer ABBA and roast them over a grill.

It's all subjective gyus. I just find Sabbath to be a little bit laughable. And well, I actually think 'Unplugged' is Nirvana's best album
