It's hard to find people to work with where I live who are interested in the same music, have the same drive and vision that I do. So I decided to search online for websites that allow musicians to create music together. This would be awesome because I could find people who have beats up online, I could write to the ones I like, and other vocalists can sing to them. But every site that I found looks terrible and want to pay a monthly fee or something upfront...

Are there no good collaborations websites for musicians???

I'm a member of a few guitar oriented forums, and there are always people on them that are ready and willing to collaborate. Become a part of those types of communities, and you'll find yourself quite busy.

Alright so hear me out, I'd like any and everyone's thoughts on this:

What if there were a website where musicians could collaborate online, where it's free to sign up, free to post new projects and add to existing ones. Unlike Kompoz, everyone votes on how the song should progress and everyone votes on which songs get released. When songs are released, everyone who contributed to the song gets a percentage of the money earned based on how much those people contributed.

I mean I'm working on this idea, I'd like to see what other people think because I think this kind of idea would be awesome.

I just don't think it would work. People really want to prompt their own stuff rather than other groups.

A few responses to this, although it's a good point.
#1 It's definitely more rewarding to release things independently, but when you want to make money, that means you have to market yourself, brand yourself, advertise, build a fanbase and many other things. With this website, every song will be released under one name: the company name, so that all of that can be done by the website and a fan base can be built up that will listen to every released song. This will give anyone anywhere the opportunity to reach a huge fan base so long as they have a song that is good enough to get released.
#2 Many people specialize in songwriting, producing, and vocalizing. By having a website that allows all of these specialized musicians to come together and showcase their talents, they can draw from each other more easily.
#3 What about a feature that allows independent musicians to use the "pre-marketing" feature, so they can upload their singles and have the ENTIRE website community judge their music before it's released. If the song has a like %, the website will release the song to all of their fan base for a fee.
Eh? What do you think now?

To me it just sounds like Spotify. It doesn't quite work with the pre acceptance, unless they are paying for advertising? Because how else is it going to be profitable from day one? It will take time for people to catch on and you may have people complaining that there's not enough music on there for a while which limits you, for letting the band upload their work. You need to try and make this as original as possible..
