As for the VMA'S I was not very impressed in the least when Justin Timberlake was really the only decent performance that says something. I think Thicke should have performed his hit with the hitmakers and left Cyrus on the sidelines, what a freakshow she was. Kanye West was disgustingly bad. I think he must be deaf because he was so out of tune autotune couldn;t save him. What a deplorable performance. Why don't the VMAS have rock acts anymore? And how the **** does One Direction beat out Blurred Lines and Get Lucky for best song? What a crock of **** the VMAS has turned into.

Bruno Mars also did a good job as well. One Direction won because that category was determined by fan votes.

They really need to end the award show all together lol They dont even play music videos anymore!

I feel like I should really catch up with music videos before I watch the awards. I saw the Mirror video by JT and it was cute that it was a tribute to his Grandparents but I really didn't get what was going on there, so I was surprised.

^ It was a dumb video. I still cant believe he won that MJ award, what a ****ing joke. He has not one iconic groundbreaking classic video. Who does MTV think they are foolin? Desperate for ratings I see.

Was that a vote too, though?
Or was that chosen by someone else?

MTV gave him that award because JT is the golden boy and the all mighty "white hope". He has another album coming out (Part II of the 20/20 experience) so it was a promotional tool so to speak. People dont vote on that and its determined by the producers for marketing reasons.

He said himself he didnt deserve it (which I respect him for saying). However, I dont know why someone would accept something they know they didnt deserve.

Whether you win a legend award, 35 grammys, etc it has no meaning if you dont have the catalogue and works to speak for it. Its just another statue taking up space. In 50 yrs NOBODY is not going to remember a single JT music video but they will be still looking at MJs. So that award means nothing

Damn that's upsetting. I don't remember any of his music videos either, really, so it's a pretty weird award to get.

Are there any artists now that you think deserved it more?

Yea its very upseting because its insulting to Michael Jackson who the award is named after. The award is awarded to artists who have made groundbreaking and innovative music video(s).

Personally, no artist out today has made a groundbreaking or innovative music video that I feel will be remembered years from now. We have videos that are popular "at the moment" but we dont have any memorable dinner table discussion music videos today. That particular era has passed.

Now some artists that I felt could have gotten it OVER Justin are ladies like Kelis and Janelle Monae who have far more creative music videos and story plots.

NWA, Heavy D, Public Enemy and Tupac probably should have received the award but MTV tends to ignore rap artists for this particular award.

I just dont see how you can be gone from music for almost a decade and then come back and get awarded an achievement award for groundbreaking music videos lol a bunch of bs and Jimmy Fallon had the nerve to call him the President of Pop and a legend LOL!!!!!!

I mean a legend musically is one thing, I think people will remember JT, but I don't think his music videos are groundbreaking at all.
