Linda Ronstadt discloses she has Parkinson's, can't sing anymore
Very sad, one of my favorites! Had a bit of a crush on her for a while, too.

My mom has all her albums - one of her most favourite artists. Sad to hear that news :(

Very touching column by a writer in one of the Seattle papers:

Terrible news. A real star and a true legend. I hope the doctor broke it to her more gently than the way she described! What a horrible thing to be told! Hope she's coping all right... Love ya Linda! :(

I remember hearing her sing the opera Pirates of Penzance. What a great voice!

Really sad to hear this news. I was lucky to see Linda 5 times in concert. What an amazing voice. I wish her the best in coping with her illness.

I'm not really a fan of her music, but what horrible news. Parkinson's is a terrible disease.

What the ****. Are you serious. It is such a great shame. I usually don't care for Coutnry music but I love Linda very much. Her voice is sexy and raunchy and I love it.

First US solo chart Top 40 hit, and she wanted it on her album which turned out to be the breakthrough Silk Purse. A great ballad from her more Country styled years. My favorite performance of hers next to... Written by Michael Nesmith, she made this song a major hit with her excellent singing. She had a very expressive voice that surrounded a lot of music styles through the years. What happened is very sad, but at least, as even this thread has shown, her legacy will be for the music that has fans in all of her eras from Late 60's Californian Pop (my favorite era), Country, Late 70's Pop Rock, slight steps in 80's style Pop (Mad Love/Get Closer), Classic Ballads (What's New), and even Opera. |
Why do ****ty things have to happen to the nicest people while other fools live out their lives illness free in prison.........
