Music In Dreams
Anyone else have full songs play in their dreams? Usually it will be on the radio or playing in some public place and I will typically when I wake up realize what the song is...The amazing part is how close (or what seems like close) my brain actually remembers or fills in ALL the parts to make a complete piece of music.
Sometimes I wish you could hook a mic up to your head when dreaming and for all you know Symphony #9 could be created. One thing I have never done is play guitar in a dream, have played drums and I remember it going really well and doing some things that are definitely not possible. I can only imagine what a dream shred would be like.

While I'm on the verge of sleep, my head is full of wicked psytrance beats and/or tribal chanting/percussive noise type stuff that doesn't exist, sometimes I'll hear a thrash metal song that doesn't exist either. If I could remember any of the songs my brain creates, I'd be an awesome musician. I had this same conversation in plug with Antonio.
One time during a hypnagogic experience, my brain played "Boss DJ" by Sublime along with the weird visuals, and when I tried to focus in on an image, the song became heavily distorted. Before I knew anything about dream mechanics, I heard an extended version of "Freebird" and a sludgey version of "Lowrider". |

I once dreamt that I was kidnapped by Bob Dylan and along with Mick Jagger, we were stuffed into the back of Dylan's (frankly spacious) Volvo, and we were forced to come up with an album that would surpass the emotional power of 70s music. Mick and I were unable to come up with anything apart a 78 track concept album called F*** Off Franklin Roosevelt something that Dylan (who was sitting in the front seat) described as "purely hysterical" and "incapable of being marketed in this current conservative economy". The primary issue was that the Volvo had very limited space, and so, outside of a few bass guitars and one of Bob's rusty harmonicas, we were unable to fit in the necessary gear to create an album that would literally change the face of music
That and the only refreshment we received was from sporadically presented packets of "Scampi Fries", which, as pub going people will know offer little in the way of consistent nutrition. We also feared that Dylan's mental condition was in question, as he was adamant that he would only drive in reverse on the wrong side of the road, and had crudely attempted to draw the artwork for Blood on the Tracks on each packet of scampi fries. We eventually stopped at a newsagents, where Dylan went in to buy 15 soleros, in a hope that it would inspire us to create something that wasn't complete sh**. At that point I panicked, and destroyed all of our previous work, deciding that only a 567 minute snare solo by Jagger would be able to create such a powerful emotion in the listener. But before I could convince him to go along with it, he became trapped in the air-conditioning vent of the car and the resulting stress caused me to wake up in a cold sweat and the taste of old crisps in my mouth

I have very specific and (often) ridiculously inexplicable dreams. There was another that involved Keith Richards. (I often dream about members of the Rolling Stones), perhaps because I find their "larger than life" personalities quite invasive on a sub-conscious level. The dream involved me being drafted by the CIA during an impending Zombie apocalypse and being sent up in a helicopter above the streets of Los Angeles to review the situation, only to realise that the aged guitarist was sitting in the back of the helicopter (I saw his reflection in the vast windscreen) to this day im not certain was his function on board the craft was..all I remember is that he seemed less interested in the plight below and more so in making amends for his (frankly mediocre) 90s output and to writing a song that would have the political significance to finally unite the people of continental Europe, who are (to be fair) going through some tough times.....needless to say...any notes I made during my recon mission were below the expected standard

This morning, I dreamed I was sitting at a table with Abe Lincoln drinking beer. He was telling me these hilarious anecdotes about the guys in his cabinet. He had the same voice that Daniel Day Lewis used for the movie. I can't remember any of the stories now but they were funny as f-uck when he was telling them. When I started to awaken, I remember thinking, "That ol' Lincoln was an alright cat, man!" as though we had actually been talking. And then I realized it was just a dream.

I can't exactly recall many songs I've heard in my dreams but I've been visited by the likes of many dead rockers (especially Marc Bolan, he seems to pop up in my dreams more often than not).

I had a bizarre dream which was almost lucid about Freddie Mercury once. It took place at the Paramount Arts Center in Ashland, KY...beautiful building. He addressed me personally, told me I was dreaming, and I was the only person in the audience. He sang some Queen songs, but a few modern covers. All in his voice. I woke up quite confused, saddened, and anything you can imagine.
