Brooklyn is completely unaffordable, and nobody gives a shit about musicians moving there to try to hit the big time.

it is only an obvious joke to New Yorkers not people that don't live there.

Also I'm going to be in your area soon. You in Austin right? or near there?

Baltimore. No one has mentioned it yet unless I missed something, and their music scene has really taken off during the past few years. Beach House, Wye Oak, Lower Dens, Oxes... it's happening, slowly but surely. Plus it's a really quirky unique place in general. Do NOT base your idea of Baltimore just on The Wire like a lot of people do. That is an extremely small part of the city.

I base my idea of Boston on Cheers. I'd expect to see Norm at some point when I'm there.

There's this horror anthology series called "Masters of Horror." Go watch the segment with Wendt sometime. You'll never think of him as Norm again. It's a good example of an actor breaking out of his typecast mold and doing something really crazy and unexpected.

Back on the topic of cities (don't wanna threadjack on my first full day) I've never been to Boston. I have a lot of friends who live there though.

You can either go to Beverly Hills or San Francisco CA, both these cities are pretty great for music and you can pursue your career here with full confidence and a sure success.

If you want to move to Seattle, and you're interested in doing some experimental stuff, I'd be happy to be your producer. :D

Seriously, half the stuff I listen to these days, I find myself analyzing the songs and thinking about how they could have made the song better. It makes me think I should give a try at being a producer for a band.
