Personal Blah Blah

So Mojo and I were talking about some ways to both make the music forums more active and ways to incorporate plug.dj into the forum more. We came up with a great idea for both!

Basically, each month/two weeks, a theme will be picked. The theme can be as general as a genre or emotion or as specific as an artist or song. During the allotted time, members interpret the theme, and make a cover! If you're a poet, musician, or just like to experiment with sound and video, I think this is a great way to bring us together with music. :]

You record it on youtube or soundcloud, and post the link in a thread made specifically for that theme. Then we enjoy it together on plug.dj! There can be maybe two or three times that this is done so that members of all time zones can experience this fun!

This is a great way to share, compare, and get feedback as artists from other members, and I really think this could take off!

I figure in this thread we can vote, and another thread can be made for the theme each time that can be where we post the links to our covers and plan when to listen to them on plug!

What does everyone think?
All suggestions are welcome, I'm really excited about this idea.

Current Theme: Funny/Hardcore Songs Turned Sentimental

I feel like I've said this a lot today but I'm all over this idea. I love it. I don't have any ideas off the top of my head but if I think of something I'll be back.

My songwriting skills are pretty horrendous, but I'd still be interested in participating in this. There's a lot of talent on MB and I think this would be a great way of showcasing different facets of it. I know there's the Forum Member's Showcase thread, but having several members work at the same time on a cohesive theme would be a ton of fun.

It's about sharing, so if you're good or bad or anything, I know so many people who would love to hear what you come up with. :] Including me!

Steph I thought about you SO HARD when I made this. I'm so glad you love it. Lots of good ideas are happening today so your support for all of them is great!

I can't sing to save my life but I can play flute, guitar, and bass. If I wanted to make a cover of a song or perform something (etc etc), would I be given a song or piece to record or would it just have to fit the theme?

It depends on what we make the theme! It's to your interpretation!

So it could be an artist, genre, or something else, and you take it from there!

Okay I think I got it. So let's say the theme is The Beatles, then I could pick a song to interpret on flute in my own way or something like that.

Yess! :]

This is a fantastic way to utilize Plug for the community. If I had a kazoo, I'd do kazoo covers of MB favourites. Alas.

Well you can write! Poetry is music, words are music!!
