Default The "Explain to Me Why I Like This" Thread

Basically, if you like something, or kind of like something, but you don't really know why, then you can post in this thread and hopefully some of the members here can enlighten you on. I don't know if this thread is in any way useful, but I'm stymied about a band myself, and figured I might as well make a thread dedicated to my one problem just in case this might provide a service to others.

Alright, so I've been listening to DNA today, and I have no idea what to make of them. I've listened to them before and hated them, but now they're starting to grow on me. Trouble is, I have no idea why. The rhythms are starting to make some kind of sense in a very rudimentary kind of way, but I'd like to know what the hell I'm supposed to be listening to here so I can perhaps I can further my appreciation of them or something.

This is mine, though I think I as told such a thread already existed anyway...

I don't think there's been a thread that asks the question, "This music is not something I usually like so why do I like it?"

The others threads are for asking why people like music that the questioners dislike.

I can start us off with one. If I don't like rap/hip-hop/R&B music in general, why do I keep coming back to Atmosphere? Especially "The Woman With the Tattooed Hands?"

I think it's the piano hook?

Seems a bit silly though, seeing as it's such an internal thing.

The background instrumentation sounds like classic Motown. Almost reminds me of this, albeit slower:

In fact, before the guy starts singing, I was almost expecting to hear, "Ain't no woman like the one I got."

exactly!

It's almost like thought policing. Trying to go into someone's head to figure out why they like something they supposedly like.
