Default Who's Your Favorite Real Life Spinal Tap Band?

As many music fans know, This Is Spinal Tap was 1980 mockumentary about a mediocre British band that had become a parody of their former glory as rock and roll stars. The fictional movie was so convincing, many clueless people believed Spinal Tap was a real life band and the actors in the film actually did a couple of tours pretending to be a dim-witted, self absorbed rock band that never existed.

There are more than a few real life, over-the-hill rock bands that are Spinal Tap's equal in mediocrity. I came across this video of REO Speedwagon that is the epitome of a godawful band that won't go away, complete with smarmy stage banter, phony over-the-top intensity and way too many facelifts.

Please post your favorite nomination for the first annual Spinal Tap Mediocrity Award on this thread.

My nomination goes to Uriah Heep (or as a neighbor used to call them- Diarrhea Heap). Someone posted in the interview video comments about the Spinal Tap similarities.

I'd say The Rolling Stones. I could make a compelling case but their Wikipedia page speaks for itself: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rolling_Stones.

The Uriah Heep interview is hilarious... classic unintentional Spinal Tap humor.

Mayhem. Absurd band more well known for bizarre antics and member deaths than actual music. How much more Spinal Tap can you get?

My music taste must be like **** I think Uriah Heep, Styx and Reo Speedwagon to all be very good bands with Styx being one of my all-time favourites and here they all are being nominated for the new Spinal Tap.

That interview Necrobutcher did with Sam Dunn for Metal: A Headbanger's Journey was pretty Spinal Tap.

I just watched that. That guy was wasted. He honestly looked like he was thinking about unintentionally stage diving off that bench.
