They're there in a few shots but she's not 'showing' them, the focus isn't on her breasts.

I take your point and I know what you mean, it isn't in your face. But, If you stand in front of a camera whilst making a video for a pop song with no top on, technically you are showing them aren't you. I suppose it is possible that she forgot to put a top on that day and they had to go ahead and shoot the video with her topless, but I doubt it.
I don't mind the video and I don't mind the song, but I do think its a bit of a cheap publicity stunt to make that kind of video, that's my point. |

I haven't finished the article yet, but this is written about JT's video and the Robin Thicke video.

This is the reason that there is outrage. It's not even so much the nudity but how rapey the lyrics sound. Robin Thicke's number one single 'Blurred Lines' accused of reinforcing rape myths - News - Music - The Independent

Well I'm referring to the article itself. Because I didn't hear about that outrage, but people got mad once there were naked bodies.

I've always liked that Bjork video. I see it as sensual more than outright sexual. I have no issue with nudity, except that there is a fairly narrow spectrum of the types of bodies shown. Of course young and fit is beautiful, but beauty and/or expression can be found elsewhere.
I can object to the type of shake your booty video that is cheap, tasteless and women are served up as meat. I don't find any artistic merit in that. One video I love where there is nudity and meat literally being served up, is Soft Cell's "Sex Dwarf". It's campy and ridiculous and tongue in cheek. I love that sort of thing, but I can't post links yet. |
